Chef Jason Zygmont, who has run the kitchen at Hugh Acheson's Athens flagship Five & Ten for nearly two years, is moving on to the Music City. Zygmont will leave the restaurant at the end of this year, reports Flagpole Magazine, and take over the executive chef post at The Treehouse in Nashville.
Acheson tells Flagpole Zygmont's departure was "good and amicable." There's no word yet on who might replace the chef and whether Acheson will look to promote from within or conduct a wide search. Zygmont took over the Athens kitchen in December 2013. Before his run at Five & Ten, he spent time at the now-shuttered Woodfire Grill and Acheson's Empire State South in Atlanta, plus Thomas Keller's Per Se in New York and famed Denmark restaurant Noma.
At The Treehouse Zygmont will replace chef Todd Alan Martin, who last month announced his plans to leave. Martin helped open the restaurant two years ago, serving an evolving menu that features flavors from Texas, Central and South America, and Asia.
