Former Cakes & Ale sommelier Melissa Davis has landed on her feet. Davis, who left the Decatur restaurant in July, is on board as beverage director at ONE. Midtown Kitchen, according to an official announcement.
"I am thrilled to be a part of the re-launch of ONE. Midtown Kitchen," Davis said in a prepared statement. "My passion for the industry comes from having fun and meeting new people. The goal is to make sure that every dinner out is a special occasion, even if it is just a Tuesday night out."
The hiring of Davis continues a bit of a revamp for the Concentrics restaurant, Matthew Weinstein, who previously ran the kitchen at the now-shuttered Woodfire Grill, recently joined the staff to serve as co-executive chef with Christopher Maher. Kara Czaplicki, previously of American Food and Beverage, is also a new addition as general manager.
Davis' influence on the beverage menu can be seen in new cocktails such as The Farmers Wife (Beefeater gin, housemade mulled cider syrup, lemon juice, and champagne," The Panama Connection "Panamanian rum with lime-infused coconut milk, vanilla, and cinnamon", and the Normandy classic Trou Normande (Pommeau, honey liquor, rye whiskey, and ginger).
