Former Kevin Rathbun Steak chef de cuisine Andre Gomez is ready to offer his own spin on grilled meats. After initially testing his concept at barbecue events around Georgia before declaring his intentions to go brick-and-mortar, Gomez has opened Porch Light Latin Kitchen at 300 Village Green Circle in Smyrna. The restaurant is serving lunch Tuesday through Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 3:45 p.m., and dinner is available Tuesday through Saturday from 5:15 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.
Gomez uses traditional smoking techniques to serve food with inspiration from Puerto Rico, Mexico, Central America, Spain, and Argentina — though, he's not calling his cuisine barbecue. The chef previously told Eater Atlanta he wants "everyone to feel like they are at my home, hanging out on the porch, enjoying what we cook." Counter service is available at lunch, and a waitstaff is on hand for full dinner service. Take a look at the opening menu below.
