More Details on Richards' Southern Fried, Coming Soon to Krog Street Market

Atlanta's hot chicken scene is expanding

Todd Richards, previously of The Shed at Glenwood and The Pig & The Pearl and currently executive chef at White Oak Kitchen, is getting in on Atlanta's emerging hot chicken obsession and opening Richards' Southern Fried at Krog Street Market in January. The venture is a partnership between Richards and Brewed to Serve Restaurant Group, the company behind White Oak, and it marks the launch of Southern Food Traditions, LLC, a company "dedicated to the creation of concepts and products that represent the cultural milieu of the South."

A Thursday announcement reveals the stall will offer fried chicken in three varieties: classic, hot, and Richards' HOT. The Springer Mountain Farms-sourced yardbird will be available in sandwich and plate form and accompanied by sides such as potato wedges; stewed okra and tomatoes; and broccoli, rice, and cheese casserole. A targeted opening date hasn't been set, but Richards' Southern Fried hopes to be serving at the "beginning of 2016."
