With local hot chicken concepts popping up all over the place, it was only a matter of time before a Nashville original came to town. Now that appears to be happening: Hattie B's Hot Chicken, which first opened in the Music City in 2012, is looking in to Atlanta expansion, PR for the restaurant confirms.
"Paces Properties invited Hattie B's down to look at some of their projects, and we are presently exploring potential opportunities in Atlanta," representative Amy Corley told Eater Atlanta Tuesday afternoon.
Paces Properties is the development company behind Krog Street Market, Stove Works, The Jane at Grant Park, and Vinings Jubilee, and future developments include the much-buzzed-about Atlanta Dairies on Memorial Drive. Might Hattie B's be destined for the Cabbagetown-Grant Park-Reynoldstown area? Eater Atlanta has reached out to Paces Properties for more information.
The first Hattie B's opened in Nashville's Midtown neighborhood and almost immediately began drawing comparisons to Prince's Hot Chicken Shack, the flaming yardbird pioneer that launched in the 1940s. A second Hattie B's opened in West Nashville in 2014, and further expansion is planned for Germantown in Nashville and Birmingham, Ala.
