King of Pops Bar & Good Grub, the forthcoming Ponce City Market eatery from Atlanta's favorite popsicle purveyors, is ready for launch. The Central Food Market stall will begin service Thursday night "after some significant delays, learning, and fun," according to an announcement from partner Steven Carse. The new venture is much more than a popsicle cart, with beer, wine, sandwiches, and popsicle-based cocktails on the menu, too.
King of Pops partner Neil Ringer is in charge of the food stall. In an August conversation with Eater Atlanta, Ringer explained that the inspiration for the idea came from customers.
"It is a thing — people are like, 'You should make cocktails,' every time they get a popsicle, which we always think is a great idea," Ringer said. "We've always played around with doing it by ourselves. We've always used really fresh fruit and really good ingredients, so it naturally formed into a "why not?" And then we started experimenting with some food."
King of Pops Bar & Good Grub is located among the Central Food Hall's other food stalls on the Ponce de Leon side of the market. Regular hours are Monday though Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. To celebrate its opening, the stall will give away King of Pops coasters to the first 50 drink purchasers on Thursday.
