Birmingham, Ala.-based Urban Cookhouse is opening a location in the Sandy Springs Gateway development, according to Atlanta Magazine. It's the same development that will be home to Asheville-based Tupelo Honey Cafe later this year.
Urban Cookhouse's menu features sandwiches, wraps, salads, and knife-and-fork entrees. The restaurant uses locally available ingredients, and most of its meats are smoked on komando-style cookers, such as the Big Green Egg. Owners David and Andrea Snyder opened in Birmingham's Homewood suburb in 2010, and two more locations have opened in the area since. Co-owner Will Gillespie is launching the Sandy Springs outpost.
Gillespie reportedly hopes to open Urban Cookhouse in Sandy Springs this spring.
