The team behind Buckhead's Umi Sushi has been working on a side project for a few months, and now it has a name. Plans have been filed with the City of Atlanta for the semi-private club called Himitsu Lounge, according to What Now Atlanta. Fitting with the concept's somewhat exclusive theme, Himitsu is Japanese for "secret."
Umi co-owner Farshid Arshid described his vision for the lounge in an October interview with Eater Atlanta.
"It's like a place where James Bond and Sammy Davis Jr. would meet for a martini," Arshid said. "That's how I would poetically describe the design."
The idea is for people who are dining at Umi, or people who are known at the restaurant, to stop off before dinner or visit for a post-meal drink. The space is too small for its own kitchen, but there will be a prep area, and food from Umi chef Fuyuhiko Ito will be available.
Himitsu Lounge will open at 3050 Peachtree Road NE, a few doors down from Umi.
