Smokebelly, the chef-driven barbecue restaurant that opened in Buckhead last May, has a new executive chef and menu. Nagib Sued is now running the kitchen, and chef de cuisine Darrell Rice is still on board. Sued brings experience from a couple of popular eateries that are no longer with us: Big Tex Decatur and Hector Santiago's Pura Vida.
"My love and passion for barbecue goes way back," Sued said in a prepared statement. "I am focused on taking Smokebelly's food to the next level. The addition of our new Southern Pride rotisserie smoker has been a game changer, and I am proud to say our smoked pork and brisket is now some of the best I have ever had."
In addition to preparing Southern staples, Sued is adding some international flair to the menu — look for a pressed banh mi sandwich with smoked pork and hummus with smoked and roasted red peppers. He said he's working with kitchen staff to improve holdover dishes from the old menu.
