After long delays and much anticipation, Miso Izakaya's Guy Wong is ready to open Le Fat, his Westside restaurant that replaces Yum Bunz at 935 Marietta Street. The colonial French/Vietnamese eatery begins dinner service Tuesday evening at 5 p.m., Wong confirmed in a text message Monday morning.
The menu is still being finalized, and Wong said it would be a "last-minute decision." However, diners can look for family-style dishes such as fried whole fish with crispy ginger and garlic, shaken beef, and carmelized chicken claypot. Classic pho, com, and bun dishes will be available as well. T. Fable Jeon, of The Lawrence/The Pinewood/Miso Izakaya fame, is in charge of the beverage program.
Le Fat was first scheduled to begin serving nearly a year ago, but a few hiccups pushed those plans back. The restaurant will initially serve dinner only, but Wong plans to expand to lunch service soon. Opening hours are Sunday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
As for Wong's other upcoming projects, Ponce City Market's Ton Ton and Decatur's Big Boss Chinese, he's hoping for second- and third-quarter 2015 openings, respectively.
