1) WESTSIDE — Local empire builder Ford Fry has officially filed plans to open Marcel in the former Abattoir space, according to What Now Atlanta. Fry will spend an estimated $200,000 on his new steakhouse, remodeling the dining area and restrooms. The kitchen and bar area will remain unchanged, and Fry hopes to open his eighth Atlanta restaurant in July. 2) DECATUR — Highland Bakery, with its original restaurant in Old Fourth Ward and additional outposts in Midtown, Buckhead, and Druid Hills, is adding a Decatur location. It will open in The Place on Ponce mixed-use development, reports Tomorrow's News Today. Taking up a 3,000-square-foot space, Highland Bakery is scheduled to open this summer, and it's one of three dining ventures, joining Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe and I Love Juice Bar, to move into the development. 315 West Ponce de Leon Avenue. 3) WESTSIDE — Shoya Izakaya's Masa Hayakawa has plans to open a sister restaurant in the Berkely Heights apartment complex, per What Now Atlanta. Jinya Izakaya will take over a 2,568-square-foot space in the building, 1700 Northside Drive. [WNA]
