Chef Eddie Russell is no longer affiliated with Last Word, a tipster confirmed to Eater. Russell had been running the kitchen in tandem with Matt Palmerlee, who remains on board at the modern Middle Eastern restaurant that took over the former P'Cheen space. Palmerlee is still listed on Last Word's website as "co-chefs," but Russell's name has been removed.
Details on Russell's departure weren't immediately available. Owners Matt Booth and Bernard Moussa opened Last Word in December, and it has received generally positive reviews in the early going. In his first look, Creative Loafing's Cliff Bostock said he was "bowled over" by the new restaurant. Atlanta Magazine critic Corby Kummer was a bit more reserved in his one-star review, but said it has the potential to be a neighborhood favorite.
Update: Palmerlee is also leaving Last Word, and Layla Walk will move from Fred's Meat & Bread and Yalla to take over the restaurant's kitchen.
