DECATUR — Twain's will host the seventh annual "Feed the Food Bank" event on Sunday, May 3, featuring bites from six Decatur restaurants and drinks from six local breweries. From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., a chef from each participating restaurant will partner with a local brewery to create a signature bite to go with the beer. Participating restaurants include Pine Street Market, Steinbeck's, Leon's Full Service, Twain's Brewpub, Farm Burger, and Revival, Kevin Gillespie's forthcoming meat-and-three. Breweries include Three Taverns, Blue Tarp, Wild Heaven, Orpheus, and a Twain's/SweetWater collaboration. DOWNTOWN — Next Monday, April 27, Cook's Warehouse Midtown will host Polaris executive chef Martin Pfefferkorn for a Simple Abundance cooking class benefiting the Atlanta Community Food Bank. From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., chef Martin will prepare a menu that features yellow watermelon gazpacho made with rooftop mint and honey; avocado, cucumber, and strawberry salad; sautéed Georgia white shrimp with lobster cream and stone ground grits; and strawberry shortcake. BROOKHAVEN — Haven and Valenza will host their second annual Big Green Egg Cooking Class on Saturday, June 13. The class will be held on Valenza's newly expanded patio from noon to 3 p.m. and cost $50 per person. Bruce Bohannon, Big Green Egg ambassador and smoking expert, will open the event with tips on upkeep, cleaning, and maintenance solutions for the grill. Chefs Stephen Herman of Haven and Matt Swickerath of Valenza will then lead the class on an interactive grilling experience.
