Joey Ward, executive chef at Kevin Gillespie's Gunshow, is a semifinalist for the Eater Young Guns class of 2015. Ward joins 49 other semifinalists from hundreds of nominations, and he's the only representative from the state of Georgia.
Eater Young Guns aims to identify the most promising up-and-coming talent in the restaurant industry, whether they're working as chefs or line cooks, wine and cocktail pros, restaurateurs, or maître d's. The criteria are simple. Nominees must be under 30 years of age (or have worked in their chosen field for less than five years) and must be currently employed in the hospitality industry in the United States. They must show extraordinary promise.
Ward graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y., in 2005. He previously worked under Gillespie when the Top Chef alum was at Woodfire Grill, and he has also served as executive chef at H. Harper Station.
The Young Guns class of 2015 will be revealed on June 8. See the complete list of semifinalists over at Eater National.
