AVALON — On Tuesday, May 5, Avalon's The El Felix will host a Cinco de Mayo celebration. A mariachi band will be on hand to provide entertainment, and guests can enjoy libations from the indoor bar, and a frozen margarita machine and portable bar set up on the patio. The El Felix will be open from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. [EaterWire]

CARTERSVILLE — This Sunday, Anne Quatrano and Clifford Harrison will host the New South Family Supper at their Summerland Farm to benefit the Southern Foodways Alliance. The meal at Summerland Farm will recognize the unsung heroes of the restaurant world: dishwashers, waiters, valets, hostesses, and the like. Buses leave from Star Provisions for the event, featuring more than 20 players in the Southern food scene, at 5 p.m. and will return by 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $250 and available online. [EaterWire]
