Jeni's Scoop Shops Reopen TONIGHT

The ice cream returns just in time for Memorial Day weekend.

Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams has been out of commission for nearly a month, but the Ohio-based company's scoop shops make their triumphant return tonight at 7 p.m. Jeni's issued a total product recall and closed all of its shops after discovering Listeria in a sample, but the issue has been resolved and production is up and running again. Jeni's destroyed nearly half a million pounds of ice cream during the saga.

With the reopening, all local Jeni's scoop shops — Westside Provisions District, Decatur Square, Krog Street Market — will be in business. Normal business hours resume Saturday. In order to have a consistent supply once pints are available, sales in grocery stores and online will resume later this summer.

Jeni's previously said it was unaware of any illnesses related to the Listeria discovery.
