Construction Begins on South City Kitchen Buckhead

1) BUCKHEAD — Fifth Group Restaurants has taken a major step toward opening its third South City Kitchen location. The Southern eatery is moving into Capital City Place building at 3350 Peachtree Road, and construction on the space began Monday, reports What Now Atlanta. If everything goes according to plan, South City Kitchen Buckhead will open early next year, joining the original in Midtown that opened in 1993 and a Vinings outpost that launched in 2006.

2) WESTSIDE — O-Ku Sushi, the Charleston-based sushi house that's opening a second location in the forthcoming Westside Iron Works development, is on track to open by the first day of October, according to Atlanta Magazine. Steve Palmer of Indigo Road Restaurant Group, O-Ku's parent company, told the magazine he plans to hire a sushi chef from Atlanta to run the restaurant.

3) CITYWIDE — Scooter's Coffee, a chain based out of Omaha, Neb., that specializes in espresso drinks and smoothies, is looking to enter the Atlanta market, per Bisnow (H/T: Creative Loafing). In an apparent attempt to contribute to the city's local traffic culture, all Scooter's shops would be drive-through only, without any indoor seating. No specific locations have been announced, but the chain is hoping to install "a handful of units" in Atlanta.

4) LITTLE FIVE POINTS — Jim Stacy, larger-than-life personality, food television host, and the man behind Avondale Estates' Pallookaville, has filed plans with the city for Pallookaville Junior, writes What Now Atlanta. Pallookaville Junior, a smaller, take-out version of Stacy's original restaurant, will take up residence in a former hair salon space at 1107 Euclid Avenue. Stacy is also working on new Hawaiian-inspired meat-and-three and a coffeeshop, but locations for those projects haven't been determined.
