1) ALPHARETTA — The planned Avalon location for LottaFrutta, the Old Fourth Ward-based smoothie, coffee, and sandwich shop, will launch next month, reports Atlanta Magazine. The grand opening is scheduled for July 4, and the initial menu will be the same as the original on Auburn Avenue. However, owner Myrna Perez told Atlanta that new breakfast and dinner offerings may be in the works, and that she wants to expand the business locally — Athens, Decatur, and Reynoldstown — and to airports around the country. After first opening in 2006, a second LottaFrutta opened inside Hartsfield-Jackson International in 2013.
2) WESTSIDE — O-Ku Sushi, the Charleston-based restaurant from the same group behind Oak Steakhouse and Colletta, has filed a building permit for its first Atlanta outpost, per What Now Atlanta. O-Ku will take up residence in the Westside Ironworks development, joining Barcelona Wine Bar and Tom + Chee. O-Ku will reportedly move in to a 4,945-square-foot space at 1085 Howell Mill Road.
3) DECATUR — The next Waffle House to pop up in the Atlanta area will take over the former Belk space in Downtown Decatur. Construction has begun, according to Next Stop ... Decatur, and the restaurant will be located below Eddie's Attic at 515 North McDonough Street.
