Himitsu, the forthcoming lounge from the Umi Sushi team, is pushing its opening date back to early September, co-owner Farshid Arshid confirmed in a text message to Eater Atlanta Tuesday. Himitsu was originally projected for a May opening, and then July.
Opening delays in the restaurant industry are typical, but Himitsu may have some unique issues. Arshid said Baccarat is making every crystal glass for the lounge, and that's taken some time. It sounds like Himitsu will live up to the super swanky standard of Arshid and his partners.
World-traveling mixologist Shingo Gokan and T. Fable Jeon, who has influenced local beverage programs at such restaurants as The Lawrence, The Pinewood Tippling Room, Miso Izakaya, and the recently opened Le Fat, will create the extensive cocktail menu. Umi chef Fuyuhiko Ito will prepare some small dishes specifically for the lounge, and some items from the Umi menu will be available, as well.
Himitsu will take over the space at 3050 Peachtree Road NE, just a few doors down from Umi in Buckhead.
