Queen of Cream, the forthcoming ice cream cart-turned-parlor from local pastry chef Cora Cotrim, will open in Old Fourth Ward's Highland Walk building later this month. It's Cotrim's first brick-and-mortar outpost for her frozen dessert business. In addition to the ice cream, sundaes, shakes, and floats, Queen of Cream will serve coffee and assorted baked goods, such as pies and cookies.
Cotrim, an alum of Paper Plane, Victory Sandwich Bar, and Cacao, will pasteurize local milk in house for her ice cream. Taylor Castle, formerly of Condesa Coffee, will serve as coffee director and use beans from Revelator Coffee in Birmingham, Ala. Queen of Cream will take over the former Fruttella Frozen Yogurt space at 701 North Highland Avenue.
