1) AVONDALE ESTATES — My Parents' Basement, the combination restaurant/craft beer bar/comic book store in the former James Joys Pub space, officially opened today at 11 a.m. Executive chef Tim Hastings is running the kitchen, turning out small plates and sandwiches with many meats sourced from the neighboring Pine Street Market. Brick Store Pub alum Tim Ensor is in charge of the beer program, which includes 27 rotating craft brews, a couple of locally made sodas, and two taps reserved for Wild Heaven Craft Beers. My Parents' Basement is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight. 22 North Avondale Road, Avondale Estates.

2) DECATUR — Mason Tavern, the latest concept from Concentrics Restaurant, began serving dinner Monday night in the same shopping center that houses Community Q BBQ. The restaurant, with a kitchen run by executive chef Jason Hall, offers small plates, salads, and sandwiches, as well as entrees such as pan-seared snapper and grilled butcher's steak. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to late night. 1371 Clairmont Road, Decatur.

3) WESTSIDE — The second Atlanta location for Topgolf, driving range of golfers' dreams, will open this Friday. Included in the massive three-story, 65,000-square-foot complex are three bars and a full service restaurant. The eatery's menu will include dishes such as chicken and waffle sliders, smoked brisket nachos, and a bizarre sushi/burrito mashup, reports Atlanta Magazine1600 Ellsworth Industrial Boulevard.
