— Ramen Freak, chef Mihoko Obunai's Monday night ramen pop-up at The Sound Table, is nearing a return from summer vacation. Obunai is targeting September 14 to begin service again. Ramen Freak has been on hiatus since the beginning of June.

— Like so many political candidates before him, and so many surely to follow, Jeb Bush made stopped off at The Varsity in Midtown on Tuesday. The 2016 GOP hopeful reportedly ordered a respectable meal of a yellow dog, onion rings, and a frosted orange. No word on whether Bush used the proper lingo and called his milkshake an F.O.

— On the other side of the political aisle, Poncey-Highland icon Manuel's Tavern is sending well wishes to President Jimmy Carter, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Carter and Manuel's, which has long been a favorite of Democratic politicians, go way back: The bar was where Carter launch his first gubernatorial campaign in 1970. Manuel's is sporting a large banner that reads "Get Well Soon, Jimmy!"
