Queen of Cream, which was supposed to open earlier this month before some last-minute delays, will officially begin serving Wednesday at 1 p.m. The brick-and-mortar takes local pastry chef Cora Cotrim's ice cream cart and turns it into a full-blown parlor and coffeeshop. In addition to the ice cream, sundaes, shakes, floats, and coffee, Queen of Cream will serve assorted baked goods, such as pies and cookies.

Cotrim, an alum of Paper PlaneVictory Sandwich Bar, and Cacao, will use local ingredients and pasteurize milk in house for her ice cream. Taylor Castle, formerly of Condesa Coffee, will serve as coffee director and use beans from Birmingham, Ala.-based Revelator Coffee Company, which just opened an Atlanta shop in Westside.

Queen of Cream will take over the former Fruttela Frozen Yogurt space at 701 North Highland Avenue. Hours this week are Wednesday and Thursday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Regular hours — daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. — kick in on Monday, August 31.
