Watch Ford Fry Explain His New Partnership With Chick-fil-A

The 'Superfood Side' might not be Fry's last collaboration with the chain.

Tired of simply opening restaurants every few months, Atlanta empire builder Ford Fry recently took on fast food, creating a dish for Chick-fil-A. The "Superfood Side," a kale and broccolini salad with a maple vinaigrette dressing, dried sour cherries, roasted walnuts, almonds, and pecans, didn't come together overnight. This video from the fried chicken chain shines a light on the process.

Fry started looking into Chick-fil-A in September 2014, learning the ins and outs of the chain's kitchens. A year later, he had his completed dish, which will be introduced nationwide January 18. There are no specifics on future Chick-fil-A projects for Fry, but if the video is any indication, the salad won't be his last menu item created for the company.

"We're really excited about having you come alongside our culinary team and continue to think about how the Chick-fil-A menu can evolve over time," Chick-fil-A director of menu strategy and development David Farmer says in a conversation with Fry. "A huge thanks to you for partnering up with us."
