TGM Bread Is In Business, Plans to Open for Retail Soon

It's right next door to The General Muir.

TGM Bread, the new bakery from the team behind The General MuirWest Egg CafeFred's Meat & Bread, and Yalla, is officially up and running. Headed by Rob Alexander, previously of Holeman & Finch and Alon's fame, the bakery is filling wholesale orders, and Alexander hopes to offer limited retail hours the weekend of January 16. Partner Jennifer Johnson tells Eater Atlanta a lunchtime pop-up at the bakery, with soup and grilled-cheese sandwiches, could begin service the following week.

Update: January 12, 11 a.m. Alexander says the retail opening will take place close to the end of January.

TGM Bread, taking up residence next door to The General Muir in Emory Point, is baking for all of its sister restaurants, and the bakery's first "non-family" account is Krog Street Market's Ticonderoga Club. Alexander and his team provide the sesame roll for the restaurant's spiedie sandwich, which has quickly become a lunchtime sensation in Atlanta. Johnson says more outside accounts are expected to be announced soon.

The original name for the operation was TGM Bakery, but Johnson says the new name is more accurate "given that our pastry department remains at TGM proper, headed by Pastry Chef Chris Marconi." To get an idea of what to expect from TGM Bread, see the bakery's product list below.
