Todd Richards of White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails and Richards’ Southern Fried fame is working on his first cookbook. Titled Soul, it is currently on track for publication in May 2018, according to Publishers Marketplace.

Richards is collaborating with writer and editor Shaun Chavis on the book, which will include 180 recipes that cover a broad spectrum of the chef’s techniques. Soul will serve as "a re-introduction to soul food that shows how it utilizes fresh produce, techniques for the modern kitchen, and influences from cuisines around the world."

Richards is executive chef at Downtown's White Oak, serving modern Southern cuisine, and he opened Richards’ Southern Fried at Krog Street Market in July. The food stall turns out Nashville-style hot chicken (though Richards recognizes his bird doesn’t begin to approach the heat levels in the Music City), which is complemented by an array of traditional Southern sides and desserts.

Eater Atlanta has reached out to Richards for more information.
