After changing formats at their Decatur restaurant, the owners of Taiyo Ramen née Makan are about ready to debut their Krog Street Market stall. Diners can get a preview of Suzy Siu’s Baos today from noon to 1 p.m., and a soft opening is scheduled for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Co-owner Michael Lo tells Eater Atlanta he and chef George Yu hope to have Suzy Siu’s ready for its official debut on Tuesday, November 15. He isn’t quite ready to reveal regular hours or the complete menu.
First announced as Betty Hsu’s Baos in June, the stall will serve pork belly, duck, seafood, and vegetarian steamed buns. Lo and Yu decided to change the branding in August, saying Suzy Siu’s "was a more fitting and overall better name." The stall will take up 420 square feet adjacent to Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams and across from Grand Champion BBQ.
Lo and Yu opened Makan inside the Courtyard Decatur Downtown Hotel in July 2014, serving a wide range of pan-Asian cuisine. Last month, they decided to pare down the menu and refocus the venture on ramen.
