Wondering when Atlanta might finally get a taste of The Halal Guys? The New York-based food cart-turned-restaurant chain has been working on a Buford Highway outpost for a while, but it hasn’t been able to announce an opening date. Now, the goal is to be up and running "by the end of this year."
That’s according to a recent Instagram post. A Halal Guys response to a curious and hungry follower indicates the restaurant is mired in permitting purgatory — not an uncommon situation around these parts. Originally, the chain set a fall 2016 target for its local debut. When it does begin service, The Halal Guys will operate out of a space at 4929 Buford Hwy., Suite A, in Chamblee.
A representative for the chain did not respond to a request for comment. In addition to the Buford Highway location, The Halal Guys will bring a few more restaurants to the Atlanta area.
