After returning to Atlanta with a revived MF Sushi last year, it appears Alex Kinjo is planning to take over the city. Kinjo has already announced plans to open two restaurants at Alpharetta’s Avalon development, and now he has a third on the way in Midtown. Anh’s Kitchen is on track to debut this March, reports What Now Atlanta.
Signage has been posted at a former Starbucks space at 855 Peachtree St. NE, teasing “a taste of Vietnam” with take-out and catering in addition to dine-in service. A website designed by Kinjo is live, but right now the URL is being used by Gracie Beauty & Accessories. That business lists its address as 299 North Highland Ave. NE, Suite K, which happens to be the Inman Park home of MF Sushi.
Kinjo and his brother Chris previously operated two Atlanta restaurants: the original MF Sushi in Midtown and a spinoff in Buckhead. The former shuttered in November 2011, and the latter followed suit in February 2012. They relaunched the concept in Houston in December 2012 and MF Sushi made its triumphant return to Atlanta in May 2015.
At Avalon, Alex Kinjo will open MF Bar, similar in concept to their Inman Park restaurant, and District 3, which will serve Vietnamese fare. Both restaurants are slated to begin service this spring.
