— Famous Pub, which has been serving wings and brews to sports fans for 30 years, is closing its doors. Owners of the Toco Hills sports bar announced the decision on its Facebook page. Reason for the shutter was not revealed, but it could be related to rising rents at the space, according to Tomorrow’s News Today.
Famous Pub opened in 1986, and it will turn the lights off for good after a couple of "blowout parties" on Saturday, December 17, and Sunday, December 18.
— Last December, Cafe 640 at the Highland Inn hotel was rebranded as Cafe Highlands. And in August, the restaurant became Tierras Alto, an "American cantina." Now, it’s closed for good, reports What Now Atlanta.
The shutter comes with no warning. Owners simply posted a sign that reads, "Tierras is now closed. Thank you for your business." There’s no word yet on who might take over the Poncey-Highland space, but WNA reports the owners of nearby Sweet Auburn Barbecue may be looking into it.
— National steakhouse chain BLT Steak is closing on December 31 at the W hotel’s Downtown location, according to What Now Atlanta. The hotel is reportedly taking over the restaurant space and will rebrand it as The W Kitchen on New Year’s Day.
