The timeline for Ton Ton, local restaurateur Guy Wong's forthcoming Ponce City Market ramen shop, has been in flux for a while now. But after some delays, Wong appears to have a more specific launch date in mind. In a post on Instagram, he says the restaurant is "on track to open in March."
Ton Ton was officially announced as a Ponce City Market project in December 2014, and the original plans called for an opening by spring 2015. Thanks in part to delays at the development as a whole, that timeline was pushed back to August 2015, and eventually to an ambiguous "first quarter 2016."
Wong has previously told Eater Atlanta he doesn't like to name specific opening timelines, because "rarely is it ever on time." With that in mind, the man behind Miso Izakaya and Le Fat has to feel pretty good about his March goal. When it does begin service, Ton Ton will focus on ramen, yakitori, and steamed buns. There will be a separate sushi kiosk as well.
In addition to his Ponce City Market eatery, Wong is working on the long anticipated Big Boss Chinese in Decatur. His most recent projection called for a launch in the third or fourth quarter of 2016.
