Local chain Marlow's Tavern is planning another location for Marietta. Construction on the restaurant has begun, and the opening timeline calls for service to begin this May. The restaurant takes up residence at 2960 Shallowford Road in the Sandy Plains Center development.
Marlow's Tavern currently operates 15 locations in Georgia and the forthcoming restaurant will be the second to launch in East Cobb. In a press release, executive chef and co-founder John C. Metz said the area "has always been supportive of our taverns."
The first Marlow's Tavern location opened in 2004 in Alpharetta. Last year, the company ranked 31st on Restaurant Business's list of the fastest-growing American chains. The rankings found it had brought in $48.5 million, up 18.3 percent from the previous year. In addition to the forthcoming Marietta location, an outpost is planned for Brookhaven's Brookleigh Marketplace.
Marlow's Tavern also operates four Florida restaurants: three in the Orlando area and another in Tampa.
