Piedmont BBQ Co., the barbecue pop-up from Brad Coolidge and Roberto Carlos Naranjo has moved on from Mother. Now the North Carolina-style 'cue is available Saturday afternoons at Irwin Street Market and Wednesday and Thursday evenings at Moe's & Joe's Tavern.
The pop-up takes over the Jake's Ice Cream space each Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday nights at Moe's and Joe's begin at 6 p.m. and last until the barbecue runs out. Coolidge and Naranjo serve pulled pork, pulled chicken, and chicken drumsticks. Sides cover red slaw, macaroni and cheese, "California-style" potato salad (no mayo), and creamed cucumbers. The pulled pork and chicken are served with a Lexington-style vinegar dip, and the drumsticks come with housemade barbecue sauce.
Coolidge and Naranjo launched their pop-up at Mother last October. Coolidge, who is an Atlanta transplant from Greensboro, N.C., says he aims to fill a barbecue void in the city with his smoked meats.
