Paper Mill Grill originally opened in 2008, and it temporarily shuttered in December 2014. After a retooling period, the restaurant reopened last June with a prominent name running the kitchen, former Leon's Full Service executive chef Eric Ottensmeyer. Ottensmeyer's cuisine earned a positive two-star review from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Wyatt Williams: "To be clear, none of this is world-changing, but it is the kind of cooking that New American is supposed to be about." Apparently it wasn't enough to save the eatery.
Owners Ritter and Brigid Jones previously operated an adjacent Marietta restaurant, Ritter's, which permanently closed at the time of Paper Mill Grill's temporary hiatus. There's no word on the Jones' plans going forward or what might move into the Paper Mill Grill space.
