Atlanta Hawks fans have a new destination for postgame drinks and Sunday brunch. Dennis Schröder, the backup point guard known for his golden patch of hair, is opening a Buckhead restaurant and night club this Sunday, March 13. Details are scarce, but in an Instagram post Schröder says The DS17 Lounge will serve from noon to 8 p.m. on opening day. After a two-hour break, it will reopen at 10 p.m.
The DS17 Lounge sets up shop at 2285 Peachtree Rd. NE, a prime location in the neighborhood. That's steps away from Holeman & Finch Public House and Restaurant Eugene, the eateries that put chef and restaurateur Linton Hopkins on the map. The Hawks host the Indiana Pacers at 6 p.m. on Sunday, and Schröder says his new spot is the place for the after party. DJ Stunna will be in the house on opening night.
There doesn't appear to be a Facebook page or website for The DS17 Lounge, but its Instagram account offers a first look at the interiors.
Update: Schröder, a native of Germany, tells Atlanta Journal Constitution Hawks beat writer Chris Vivlamore the venture will give him more family time.
"It's been a hard time because for two-and-a-half years I've haven't been able to bring my family over [from Germany'," Schröder told Vivlamore. "They could only stay for three months and then had to leave. Now, we have a family business and they can stay here."
