— An Atlanta Police officer has resigned after allegedly drawing his gun on a colleague at R. Thomas' Deluxe Grill in Buckhead, reports 11 Alive. APD told the local NBC affiliate officers Stephen Green and Joseph Tyler were dining with other officers from the High Intensity Traffic Team on March 18. Green and Tyler were having a discussion that became heated, with the latter declaring, "I'm going to punch you in the face."
What serious topic would lead to such an intense debate? Green and Tyler were arguing over who would win in a foot race, according to 11 Alive. Tyler became so upset that he drew his weapon inside the restaurant, though apparently no shots were fired. The dispute turned physical and spilled into R. Thomas' parking lot before other officers broke it up, according to CBS 46.
APD is investigating the incident, and spokesperson Elizabeth Espy told 11 Alive, "The Atlanta Police Department takes these allegations very seriously."
— Meanwhile, in Midtown, a "baby-faced beer bandit" is stalking Woody's Cheesesteaks. Woody's owner Steven Renner told CBS 46 the same thief has targeted his restaurant twice in the past week, making off with nothing but beer. Renner told CBS the bandit "has a youthful look to him," and his face and shoes — red or pink Nike Air DT Max 96 — are clearly seen on surveillance footage.
While the thief who has targeted Woody's hasn't gotten away with any cash, CBS reports there was another robbery this week at nearby Mediterranean Grill. That burglar stole a cash register, which was later found empty.
