City Winery, the forthcoming wine bar/restaurant/music venue at Ponce City Market, has a chef on board. Jeffrey McGar will run the kitchen when City Winery opens this May, touting years of local culinary experience at the corporate level.

McGar has cooked for venues all over town, including The Atlanta Events Center at Opera, The Atlanta Improv, Czar Ice Bar, and Cellar 56. Perhaps his biggest gig was serving as culinary director for Club Magnolia at the Masters Tournament in Augusta. Specific menu details haven't been made available, but the chef will offer "wine-inspired, globally influenced, and locally sourced dishes," according to an announcement.

Owner Michael Dorf previously told Eater Atlanta, "There will be some local decisions and non-forced core menu items that will be a lot more Southern and Georgian and in the spirit of the South." City Winery's Atlanta outpost is the fourth for the concept, following New York, Chicago, and Nashville. A former location in Napa Valley recently closed.
