Wahlburgers, the burger chain from actors Mark and Donnie Wahlberg and their chef brother Paul, is expanding again, and this time it's making plans for the Peach State. Among the latest franchise agreements signed by the Wahlberg bros is a deal to bring six restaurants to the "greater Atlanta area" and Savannah.
While a firm commitment to the state of Georgia has been made, the number restaurants bound for Atlanta, locations, and timelines for opening are not yet known. "Unfortunately, we have no additional information at this time," a spokesperson for Wahlburgers told Eater Atlanta. "They are simply just looking for potential locations in the Atlanta area."
Those who have never eaten at a Wahlburgers might know of the chain thanks to the Emmy-nominated reality television series of the same name. Wahlburgers chronicles the trio's restaurant ventures, and it's been renewed for at least two more seasons on A&E.
In addition to Georgia, the latest round of Southern expansion targets four restaurants for the Carolinas in Charleston, Charlotte, and Myrtle Beach. Wahlburgers is based in Hingham, Mass., a suburb of Boston, and the chain currently operates seven locations across Florida, Massachusetts, New York, and Canada. The company is growing at a lightning pass: In December, the Wahlbergs announced their intentions to open 100 to 150 new restaurants in the next five years.
