He operates Empire State South and Ponce City Market's Spiller Park Coffee in Atlanta, The National and Five & Ten in Athens, and The Florence in Savannah. In 2012, he won the James Beard Foundation's book award for Cooking From a Professional Point of View for A New Turn in the South, and he was picked as co-winner for Best Chef: Southeast along with Linton Hopkins of Restaurant Eugene.
Acheson's cookbooks will be available for purchase at the event. Preserving Place is located in Westside Provisions District at 1170 Howell Mill Rd.
