The latest venture from Midtown restaurateur Billy Streck is in a soft opening phase, and it should be fully operational soon. Atwoods Pizza Cafe is offering the somewhat unique combination of breakfast and pizza at 817 West Peachtree St., Suite A105, and a rep tells Eater Atlanta hours every day this week are 11 a.m. to midnight.
When it's officially open, Atwoods will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week. Chef Rob Philip of Hearth Pizza Tavern in Roswell designed the menu, focusing on traditional pies that are "hand-friendly, but featuring a thin crust with a developed crumb, nice chew, and slight char." Soups, salads, sandwiches, and subs are also available. Beverages include four craft beers on draft, canned tallboys, three red and white wines by glass and bottle, and Boylan Sodas.
"We were inspired to offer the neighborhood something it didn't have already"
When expanded service launches, Atwoods will transform into a cafe during breakfast hours. Look for dishes such as bread pudding French toast; a buttermilk-fried chicken biscuit with sweet pepper jelly, fontina cheese with a fried egg; and four varieties of breakfast sandwiches. The coffee bar will serve Jittery Joe's beans brewed to order in an Italian La Cimbali espresso machine, and housemade syrups will be available to augment any caffeinated beverage.
"We were inspired to offer the neighborhood something it didn't have already — Atwoods Pizza Café is a fun spot that supplies delicious slices and craft coffee within walking distance from all of the offices and residences in Midtown," Streck said in a prepared statement.
Philip, Rob Caswick, Jeff Newsham, and Dave Pazienza are partnering with Streck, who has been busy lately. The Cypress Street Pint & Plate co-owner had a hand in opening Grain and Tavernpoint in Midtown last year, and he's close to launching Hampton & Hudson in Inman Park.
Located on the ground floor of the Biltmore Hotel building, Atwoods Pizza Cafe's regular hours will be Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to midnight, Saturday from 8 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Take a look at the full menu below.
