— Charlotte-based steakhouse chain Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is planning its first Georgia location, the company officially announced Wednesday, and it will open at 2665 Old Milton Pkwy. in Alpharetta early next month. The restaurant is moving into The Atwater development, which is across Old Mill Parkway from the rapidly expanding Avalon project.

When it opens, Firebirds's Alpharetta restaurant will be the 39th in 18 states for the chain. Firebirds focuses on steaks, seafood, chicken, and ribs cooked over wood-burning grills.

— Tampa-based fast-casual chain Little Greek Fresh Grill is making a big push in the metro Atlanta market, according to a press release. After opening its first Georgia location in Kennesaw last month, the company has signed a 20-unit deal with local franchisees Rob Wolfenden and Cliff Longshore. Little Greek will bring restaurants to Cobb and Fulton counties, plus "10 other surrounding counties."

Little Greek currently operates 26 locations in Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, and Texas. "We’ve had our eyes on Georgia for quite some time," company president Nick Vojnovic said in the press release. "We think Little Greek Fresh Grill is a perfect fit for this market. The Greek-Mediterranean segment is exploding. Americans are discovering this healthy, delicious cuisine."
