Georgia Public Broadcasting has partnered with the Confucius Institute at Kennesaw State University to produce a documentary that dives into the history of Chinese tea. Premiering next week on GPB, Chinese Tea: Elixir of the Orient will tell the story of "one of the most widely consumed drinks in the world," according to GPB vice president of production Steve Carey. The above preview offers a sneak peek at the film. Carey calls it "an amazing story about the culture, history, and humanity that is held in a simple cup of tea."
"GPB has the extraordinary privilege of presenting the backstory about one of the most widely consumed drinks in the world," Carey said. "From the people who produce it, to ancient ceremonies still used to prepare it, the leaves of tea provide an exciting introduction to Chinese civilization."
Chinese Tea marks the first partnership between GPB and KSU's Confucius Institute. The documentary will air Tuesday, April 26, at 8 p.m, and an encore is scheduled for Sunday, May 1, at 2 p.m.
