Boldly serving burgers and sushi under the same roof, The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar will open its Atlanta outpost Thursday, April 28. The Charlotte-based restaurant is moving into a Perimeter Mall space at 4400 Ashford Dunwoody Rd. NE in Dunwoody.

The Cowfish first announced its Atlanta plans last May, and this will be the fourth location for the restaurant. After originally opening in Charlotte in 2010, it expanded to Raleigh and then Orlando. The Charlotte eatery was hit with a norovirus outbreak last year.

Of the local outpost, co-founder Alan Springate says Atlanta's "progressive" restaurant patrons and large population made the city an obvious target. "Atlanta is the next logical step for us," Springate said last month. "It is a great city, not too far from our home state, with a progressive restaurant scene. It's very similar to Charlotte, with a lot more people."

The Cowfish's menu features the rarely seen combination of half-pound burgers and traditional sushi rolls, sashimi, nigiri, and entree-sized fusion rolls. There's also what the restaurant calls "burgushi," described as "sushi rolls created using burger components and pick-up style sandwiches created using sushi." Sounds like the perfect option for someone who really has a hard time making up their mind.

The Cowfish will open for lunch and dinner. Take a look at the expansive menu below.
