Alex Brounstein is putting the finishing touches on his newest Grindhouse Killer Burgers location, and the Decatur restaurant should be in business next week. Brounstein told Decaturish his team is "looking good right now."
"We're going to do some test runs this week," Brounstein said. "There's a chance we could be open this weekend. Certainly by the beginning of next week we'll definitely be open."
The Decatur outpost, which was first announced in October 2014, is opening at 433 North McDonough St., and it will feature a rooftop sports bar and patio. This is Brounstein's sixth Grindhouse location, following the original stand inside Sweet Auburn Curb Market, freestanding restaurants on Piedmont Avenue and in Athens, and two Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport outposts. A seventh, in the former Bar One space on Memorial Drive, is slated to open sometime next year.
Brounstein also operates Hi-Five Diner in Midtown. That restaurant replaced Villains, his previous concept at 903 Peachtree St. NE, in February 2015.
