Local chain Marlow's Tavern will open its second Marietta outpost later this month, according to a Monday announcement. The new restaurant will debut on Tuesday, May 17, at 2960 Shallowford Rd. in the Sandy Plains Centre development. Matt Breska, formerly of Blue Moon Pizza, is on board to run the location as general manager.

Marlow's Tavern co-founder and executive chef John C. Metz pointed to impending local development as reason for the choice of address. "Cobb County is an exciting place to be with the new Braves stadium coming, plus so many residential and business communities that support their local restaurants and retail stores," Metz said in a prepared statement.

The Sandy Plains outpost, first announced in February, will be the 16th for Marlow's Tavern in the Atlanta area. The chain also operates four restaurants in the Orlando and Tampa areas of Florida. Marlow's Tavern launched in 2004 with its original location in Alpharetta.
