With Second Self Beer Company's new tasting room still on track to open this summer, the brewery is offering local drinkers a sneak peak later this month. Second Self will host a preview party on Saturday, May 21, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Boozing will go down outside the facility at 1311 Logan Cir. NW, but patrons will have the chance to tour the under-construction space.
Tickets are $12 and available online. The tour comes with 36 ounces of Second Self samples on draft, and a limited number of souvenir cans of seasonal releases CitrusIPA and Maverick and Gose also will be available.
The renovation will triple the size of Second Self's previous tasting room and accommodate up to 200 guests. Local firm Square Feet Studio is in charge of the design, which will include a 24-foot butcher-block bar, separate kitchen for catered events and regular chef pop-ups, and reclaimed wood tables.
Second Self founders Jason Santamaria and Chris Doyle opened their brewery in October 2014. With the forthcoming expansion, which has been a goal for at least a year, they say production will increase by 150 percent.
