After 15 Years, East Point Tavern Plans Relocation, New Concept

Look for a couple of openings in 2017

After 15 years of service, Corner Tavern's East Point location is up for sale, co-owner Melanie Rabb tells Eater Atlanta. The restaurant located at 2783 Main St. will move to nearby Hapeville. The new property also will house another restaurant from the Corner Tavern team, debuting a concept called Tren Loco Taqueria.

The building that houses Hapeville Corner Tavern and Tren Loco will go up on a lot at Dearborn Plaza on North Central Avenue. Further details are scarce at the moment, but Rabb says the restaurants are anticipated to open in January or February of 2017. Corner Tavern will be familiar to anyone who's visited the brands other locations around Atlanta, and based on the name, Tren Loco should be some sort of Mexican-inspired establishment. Rabb tells Eater Atlanta the latter will be made from repurposed shipping containers.

Corner Tavern currently operates outposts in Little Five Points and Sweet Auburn. A Westside location closed last year, and it was replaced by The Whelan. See renderings of the new project below.
