Get a Sneak Peek Inside 5Church, Coming Soon to Colony Square

Charlotte-based restaurant 5Church is coming to Atlanta this week, opening its third location in Midtown on Friday. James Beard winner RJ Cooper is running the kitchen, and he'll serve a menu that features Southern an modern American staples such as Frogmore stew, a selection of steaks, roasted pork belly, and a lamb burger.

5Church's interior design includes an element that is sure to get most of the attention: Sun Tzu's The Art of War is painted in its entirety on the ceiling. It could be an attempt to simply draw some buzz, but the owners say it portrays their collective philosophy. "In our minds, there is no such thing as ‘I created this success' because we all contribute," says managing partner Ayman Kamel. Aside from the ancient Chinese military treatise, the restaurant's design is what ownership calls neo-Victorian. Look for black leather banquettes, chandeliers, and large-scale works from local artists inspired by Atlanta.
