News that's sure to make The Dude happy: The Comet Pub & Lanes is just about ready to go in Decatur. The bowling alley previously known as Suburban Lanes will open to the public this Friday, July 15, at 2619 North Decatur Rd.
The revamped venue is operated by the team behind Twain's Brewpub & Billiards, and Twain's chef Savannah Haseler designed the menu. The Comet's fare appears to be a step up from typical bowling alley cuisine. There's a build-your-own burger made with White Oak Pastures beef, which can be served as a single, double, or triple. A chicken waffle dog comes with Pine Street Market chicken sausage fried in waffle batter and served with a maple-bacon aioli, and a cola-barbecue pulled pork sandwich is topped with cheddar and fried onion straws.
The beer menu won't offer anything from Twain's, but it focuses on craft, local, and micro brews. Sixteen draft and 50 bottle selections can be found at the wrap-around bar. As for the bowling, The Comet houses 32 lanes that can accommodate six players at a time. Updates to the alley include iPad systems for scoring, new televisions, and refurbished lanes. For the bowling averse, shuffleboard is available to pass the time.
The Comet Pub & Lanes is open 5 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., seven days a week, and afternoon hours should be added in the near future. See the full menu below.
