Cornmeal waffles, anyone?

Charlotte-based 5Church opened an Atlanta outpost a couple of months ago, and now it’s ready to take a crack at brunch service. Beginning this weekend, brunch is served at the Midtown restaurant Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The menu runs a gamut of influences, but it does lean into Southern fare. Southern-fried steak (with whipped potatoes, two sunny-side-up eggs, and wild mushroom-black pepper gravy) and cornmeal waffles (with fried chicken livers and black pepper gravy or preserved peaches) particularly stand out. Beverages include standard brunch cocktails (mimosas, sangria, bloody marys) plus something called “the preacher’s daughter.”

In addition to its brunch hours, 5Church serves dinner nightly from 5 p.m. to close, and lunch is available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Take a look at the complete brunch menu below.
